Sherbet: Quick Paint

This was a fun paint! Her hair ended up reminding me of sherbet :) Painted in Corel Painter 12 which I have not worked in for quite some time. It was fun to work with their brushes again!

Iron Ninja Games Work: Beaver Costume Concepts

In addition to creating the tree game models, I have been given the wonderful opportunity to do costume concept art for the main character in Iron Ninja Games' upcoming game. If you have had the chance to look at their development blog, ironninja.com, you may have already seen these. The following drawings are a sneak peek of the fun waiting for you in the game!

The costume and variation design are my work, completed in Photoshop.  Just so you know our process, I start with a written description and a few reference pictures from the art director of the desired look. I follow with my drawings, and complete any necessary modifications in design that are requested. After that, the approved concepts are sent to our awesome character modeler and texture artist Matt for completion!

Also, please note that the base character design of the beaver (which you can see in full 3-D form on the development site) is the original work of another artist of our Iron Ninja Games team, not myself.

If you are interested in following the game's progress, you can do so here: ironninja.com , and make sure to check out the Development Blog tab!

Freelance Work: Tree Game Models

A couple months ago I was invited to become part of a wonderful indie game development team, Iron Ninja Games! Since then I have been doing a variety of work for a game yet to be released to iPhone, Android and iPad.

This is a set of two low poly trees, which will populate the first level of the game. They are variations of trees I created for my short film, "Boris", and have been improved and modified to the director's vision. Keeping the style intact was most important to the game's look. I have completed all of the modeling, UV unwrapping, texture painting, rigging and skinning too!

If you are interested in following the game's progress, you can do so here: ironninja.com and make sure to check out the Development Blog tab!

Programs used:  Maya LT 2015 and Photoshop CS5

Ravena Concept: Work In Progress

This month has gone fast! I have been hard at work on a body of freelance work I cannot release yet, so I will do an update on some of my personal work!

This is an improved concept for my warrior girl 3D character model. I started the project as just practice to improve my modeling skills, but after completeing her basic shape, I realized I really wanted to make her into a real character. So I went to work sketching up a different look for her. I knew so little about armor design and through more sketching and researching I have came up with this! She is still a work in progress, but her design has definitely improved! So here she is as she exists now, warrior Ravena Arlan!

Baby Dolyak: Guild Wars Fan Art

Digital doodle time! I was playing Guild Wars 2 today, and was inspired to paint this! A dolyak calf from the "Flying Dolyak" race event. So much cuteness!

Debbie Thornberry: Fan Art

I was feeling nostalgic about being a 90's kid this week, and felt like a fun doodle inspired by "The Wild Thornberrys" TV show was in order. So here is my interpretation of Debbie Thornberry! Drawn and painted in Photoshop.

Warrior: Work in Progress 3D Model

This is a work in progress model! The screenshots of my model below show my progress so far. I have been working on this warrior 3D model in Maya for a little while, but it has been regretfully slow-going. I endeavor to pick up the pace on it so I can have a completed model soon, and move on to texturing and more detail sculpting!

It's Harry Potter fan art time! My sister and I were enjoying Pottermore last night, and it inspired me to paint this! Here is my interpretation of Crookshanks, Hermione Granger's cat. Done entirely on my bamboo tablet in Photoshop CS5.

Thor Cartoon: Fan Art!

I have read a few graphic novels, but never before have I sat down to sincerely read a comic book. So this past week I bought and finished reading one for the very first time. I chose Thor, and enjoyed it so much as to go online and order more! I found myself in a doodle mood, so here is my own cartoon version of Thor.

I do NOT claim any rights to the comic Thor or the characters! This is fan art. Thank you!

Character Concept: Casey

This is my character concept art for Casey, a twelve year old boy who is known for his love of video arcades. He is the dorky younger brother of the main character in "Starcadia"; a group project my friends and I are working on. To create this digital painting, I worked off of a bio and art direction given to me by our team leader Zack Aller.

Created entirely in Photoshop CS5, based on an earlier sketch I made for the character!
